Cheertatorish to Cheermocracy (Bring It On! Movie Recap)

Like Awesome, it's a cheer movie. Oh wow, the former captain stole all the cheers. Like totally freak me out, the new cheer captain, Torrence, totally did. I mean right on, said like half the team because it was too late to learn new cheers. Toros sure are #1, because the cheated, but it won't fly this time. A little recap of nostalgia from that time all millennial girls decided Cheer was for them. And a nod to all those cheers from the movie we know are still stuck in the recesses of your mind just before everything you learned in Algebra 2.

It's Boyhood (Movie Recap, Holes)

We've already done a deep in what girlhood is, and it made us think... What is boyhood? We're not boys, but we are the mother of boys, and we think Holes is pretty close. It has all the moving parts of what we think of when we think of boyhood: crime, reptiles, questionable food choices and none of them know each other's real names. While girlhood is cozy and emotional, boyhood is frought with peril.

We Must, We Must (Movie Recap- Are You There God, Its Me Margret)

In this week's episode, we deep dive into a book-movie adaptation of Judy Blume's 1970 MASTERPIECE, staring Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates and Abby Ryder Fortson. This movie is perfection. No notes. It perfectly encapsulates three generations of women; their struggles, their growth, their wins. Are you a young girl? a 25-45 year old mother? A grandmother? Did you used to be a young girl? Just Add Chaos (Movie Recap, Instant Family)

This 2018 Dramedy stars Mark Wahlberg, Rose Byrne, Isabela Merced, Octavia Spencer and Tig Notaro. We deep dive into the lives of two DINK, house flippers who have decided that what they need in life is... Chaos. Coming from 2 parents, going from 0 kids to 1 kid is rough. Going from 0 kids to 3 kids overnight is insanity. Throw in the fact that you skip a bunch of years and they already have personalities that you don't know. Not just that, but these kids have had it ROUGH, so they're understandably a little skeptical. Parenting can be challenging, foster parenting is a gauntlet. 

Abracadabra (Movie Recap, The Prestige)

In one of the best movies every created, this week we dive into The Prestige. Directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Scarlet Johanson, Michael Caine, Piper Perabo....and David Bowie. This fantasy/adventure film is a tale of magic, deception, sacrifice, mystery, love and a little bit of crime drama. It's a woeful 19th century cautionary tale of not trusting ANYONE, maybe double checking the woods and don't cheat on your (?) wife. Like we said, it's perfect. Any other take is fake news. 

Dating These Days... (Movie Recap, F*CK, Marry, Kill)

Are you totally happily married and wondering what it's like dating in 2025? Same, but let us tell you folks, it's rough out there. It's a steady stream of ghosts, unsolicited dick pics and murders. You think you find a nice guy and BAM, he wears the same shoe size as The Swipe Right Killer. Or he DOESN'T HAVE FINGER PRINTS. It's a minefield of red flags. We deep dive into this Romantic Crime Comedy, starring Lucy Hale, JayR Tinaco, Brooke Nevin, and Bethany Brown as they help to catch a serial killer and get their friend laid. 

But How Old Are They? (Movie Recap, Shrek)

Our first animated film and we picked a banger with Shrek. Featuring the voices of Michael Meyer, Cameron Diaz and Eddy Murphy, DreamWorks really did something here. Magical Creatures, romance, adventure and a mother fucking dragon??? SOLD. We so have some lingering questions though....How old Shrek and Fiona? What's that age gap? Do age gaps matter when one is a magical creature? 

He Just Wanted to Borrow It (Movie Recap, National Treasure)

Rose puts aside her Nicolas Cage ick once more for this 2004 National Treasure, starring Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha. This deep dive really shows how much people grow and change. 2004 us: Ben MUST protect the Declaration of Independence from Ian, because 'Merica. 2025 us: I mean, Ian was just gonna borrow it, its not that big of a deal. Also, Ben seasoned it up with a hair dryer and lemon juice....so... does he really care THAT much? 

As If, He's Too Old (Movie Recap, Clueless)

Taking it back for some 90's nostalgia, we recap Clueless this week. Starring Alicia Silverstone. The clothes, the absurdity, the lack of adult supervision, it's a vibe, so fun... Until you start doing the math on that age gap. Once again math ruins everything.
